If deployed in a major event, CERT members will find that their training in light search and rescue will be one of the most utilized skills. Members receive training in how to quickly and safely extricate victims, all while assessing medical needs the injured may have.
CERT members don’t only learn how to take care of themselves and their families, although that is a major aim of the Loma Linda CERT program. During training, members learn how to work as efficient teams also, problem solving, using personal skills and even muscles that when combined, are greater than one member may have on their own. In an actual emergency, this teamwork will be very important in accomplishing tasks that one person could not do alone.
